Wednesday craft day #011: Suncatchers

These slightly gloomy days are not always cheerful. That is why we thought it would be a good idea to bring the sun into your home. Not literally of course! For the craft tip of the week, we’ll teach you how to make suncatchers. Because after rain comes sunshine

Necessities

  • Flowers and/or leaves
➪ place it in a book/newspaper and stack it with other books
➪ after at least 3 days, preferably 1 week, you can use them
  • Translucent adhesive film
➪ alternative: photo frame with double glass
  • Pair of scissors
  • piece of rope
  • embroidery hoop
  • Books

Do you like symmetry or do you prefer something abstract? No problem, you are free to design your own suncatcher! 😎

Preparation

  1. Unscrew your hoop and separate it into two hoops
  2. Cut two squares in the clear adhesive film
    • a little bigger than your hoop
  3. Design a flower pattern for your suncatcher
  4. Peel the back of 1 of the squares from the adhesive foil
    • put it adhesive side up
  5. Place the inner hoop on top and arrange your flowers carefully in the center of the hoop
  6. Remove the hoop
  7. Now take the back of your second square and place it sticky side down on your design
  8. Place your design over the inner hoop
  9. Place the outer hoop on top and hoop it in place
  10. Cut off the foil on the outside of the hoop
  11. Tie a string at the top

Hang the sun catchers in front of a window, the light of the sun does the rest! ☀️
