In Flanders, the Research Center for Fruit Growing (pcfruit vzw) is an internationally recognized research center in fruit growing. It conducts research in collaboration with universities, other research institutions, industry and the fruit sector. This knowledge center has a hundred or so employees, half of them scientists and educators, and includes 62.5 acres of experimental gardens for apple, pear, cherry, apricot, strawberry, blackberry, raspberry, currant and grape, among others. It is the place in the heart of the fruit region where scientific research, demonstration to fruit growers, individual business education and services to businesses converge. Beware this is not always organic but take advantage of it.
