As a group of volunteers, we have been managing the one and a half hectare De Parkse Gaard Food Forest in De Park, a sub-area of Park Lingezegen, since spring 2016.
The initiative for the construction and management of a food forest originated from the nature working group Stichting Overbetuwe Groen Natuur. The De Parkse Gaard Foundation was established in January 2019 and we will continue independently.

We show how we try to combine nature development and food production. Characteristics of a natural forest, which is able to grow and bloom richly and for a long time ‘under its own power’, are applied to food crops. That is why perennial trees and shrubs and plants play the main role in the food forest and not annual species. In the long term, this will create a stable natural system that is disease-resistant enough and that produces varied and healthy food.
Some important themes: healthy soil, full of soil life, which is not processed to achieve this. No, or only if unavoidable, use of fossil fuel. Striving for as much biodiversity as possible. Maintaining the cycle.
