A food forest is a human-designed system focused on the production of fruits, nuts, mushrooms, perennial vegetables, herbs and edible leaves. The design of a food forest is based on ecological principles and is based on the structure of soil fertility. For the 1.5 hectares at YogaFarm I made a design in which the existing elements such as the pond, as a wet zone, and the current forest are integrated. The pasture will be a combination of a dense food forest, with an open area for perennial crops. The approach is that there is sufficient biodiversity, but also sufficient variety in food for people, so that the place and its immediate surroundings can be as self-sufficient as possible.
