The Smuljungle in Aalst is a unique place where, thanks to the City of Aalst and under the watchful eye of Bart Backaert, we are building a botanical edible garden.
The Smuljungle features some 51 meters of leifruit that were newly planted 2 years ago, and recently some 50 other low-trunk trees were planted. These fruit trees can grow and flourish while their other big brothers half-stem and tall-stem fruit trees have a chance to take root.
If you also want to get started with leifruit then this leifruit course is definitely for you.
Practical info
This 4-part course in leifruit pruning is taught by Dieter Dewitte of Pomoko vzw. Dieter is a very passionate pomologist who wants to keep old fruit varieties alive.
Leifruit is ideal for anyone with a small garden with or without a wall.
Location
The course will take place at the Smuljungle, grounds between Marktweg 20 and the WZC Sint-Job, Sint-Jobstraat 197 in Aalst. We work with a small group so signing up quickly is the message.
