More than 40% of working people in the Netherlands would prefer to do their work in a more natural environment and if it were up to two in three working people, they would go into nature for relaxation immediately after work. One in three workers – without location-based work – also likes to combine work and vacation. These are the conclusions of recent research commissioned by Marketing Drenthe among about 1,100 Dutch people. says theindependent editorial paper in the Netherlands
At the beginning of this year, Marketing Drenthe published – together with the Province of Drenthe, among others – the ‘ Perspective on Destination Drenthe 2030′ . It explains, among other things, how recreation and tourism increase the attractiveness of Drenthe as a residential, residential and recreational province. Marketing Drenthe uses research to gauge the wishes and needs of Drenthe and non-Drenten in these areas.
Rise of the workation
During the corona crisis, about 50% of the Dutch saw the boundaries between living, working and recreation become blurred. Of the working Dutch who can do their work from home, 64% think that the three components will increasingly merge into one another in the future.
Astrid Crum, director of Marketing Drenthe: “It is a trend that we also mention in the Perspectief. Over the past year and a half we have had many visitors to Drenthe who combined work and vacation. No less than 43% of workers have come to the conclusion that prefers working in an environment with more nature.
And that is perfectly possible here.” Marketing Drenthe’s research seems to confirm that workation is becoming increasingly popular. For example, a third of the respondents with non-location-related work find it pleasant to be able to open the laptop during the holidays if necessary.
How can you, as a company, focus on more nature?
Greenery and nature are becoming important and we can only applaud that. We believe that ‘Corperate gardening’ can contribute to this. In Utah they even went a step further and created a real ‘corporate garden’ that also provides the company kitchen with the necessary ingredients. Linking the useful with the pleasant.
